Job Details:

Position: Assistant Manager Legal
Reports To: Board Secretary & Director Legal
Supervises: Senior Officer/Officer Legal

Job Summary
Support the development of the legal framework of the Fund and strengthening of the contracting function.
Duties & Essential Job Functions
1. Draft and review Laws and regulations (development of the legal framework).
2. Conduct research and advise on current trends in Deposit Insurance.
3. Draft government papers (Cabinet memorandums and information papers).
4. Drafting of contracts.
5. Drafting of Memoranda of Understanding for regional and inter-regulatory agency cooperation.
6. Provide legal advice & prepare legal briefs.
7. Provide Secretarial support for the Contracts Committee.
8. Supervise officers under supervision.
9. Provide Secretarial services for disciplinary Committees of Management.
Expected Outputs
1. Sound legal advice to Fund staff, Management and Board of Directors on government regulations, contracts, property, taxes, and labour.
2. Draft legislation, regulations, Memoranda of Understanding and other contracts.
3. Draft minutes.

Minimum Qualifications And Experience:
1. A first-class or Second-class upper degree in Law from a recognized university is essential.
2. A valid practising certificate (advocate) is essential.
3. 5+ years of experience at the management level in the legal department of a government ministry, department or agency is essential.
4. A Master’s degree in law, management or a related field is an added advantage.
5. Professional certification such as ICSA, contracts management, and procurement is an added advantage.
