Job Details:

ERIKS Development Partner is a Swedish NGO that promotes Children's rights and works with local and international Civil Society Organisations to make Children's dreams come true. ERIKS promotes the rights of the child to education, health, protection, and survival in humanitarian situations. ERIKS East Africa regional office is located in Kampala, Uganda. We are now hiring for the Position of Driver-Mechanic to be based at the Kampala office
The Job Purpose is to ensure safe transportation of staff and other personnel, maintain vehicles, and carry out other logistical assignments.
Main Duties will include driving staff and other personnel to and from various destinations, maintaining vehicle logbooks, ensuring that vehicles are in sound mechanical condition, and ensuring that vehicles are well serviced and secure at all times.
The Driver-Mechanic will further be responsible for planning routes and estimating requirements for field trips, picking up and delivering items, running errands, guiding external service providers on what requires to be done on vehicles, and verifying work done by external service providers upon return of the vehicles.


Skills & Experience:
• The right candidate will be Educated to at least Senior six and with recognizable training in vehicle maintenance/mechanics, or at least 4 years of work experience driving and maintaining vehicles in an International NGO setting.
• The position requires a valid and clean driver's license, working knowledge of the rules and regulations involved in the safe and efficient operation of vehicles, Knowledge of basic automotive maintenance procedures, and Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• He/she will need to be good team player, well organised, able to develop an operational schedule, and possess a good standard of written and spoken English.
• Experience in the operation of large four wheel drive vehicles and working in the humanitarian sector will be of added advantage.
