Job Details:

Overall purpose of the job Manage and oversee dairy farm operations, monitoring livestock, purchasing supplies, preparing budgets and reports, and ensuring maximum profit. Responsible for leading the team to milk and manage cows, managing the health, breeding, and mating of cattle, and raising of calves.

Specific Duties:
• Taking care of the production facility, regulating the herd and running administrative duties.
• organizing herd tests
• Planning and managing the food cows eat.
• Managing the health, breeding, and mating of cattle, and the raising of calves.
• Managing the health, breeding, and mating of cattle, and the raising of calves. Ensuring general maintenance such as fencing and spraying weeds
• Keeping financial and farming records and organizing the farm business plan
• Maintaining equipment and farm vehicles.
• Supporting the recruitment process and training people to work on the farm Interacting with vets, farm advisers, and other contractors
• Complying with health, safety and wellbeing procedures of the farm Keeping up to date with new farm technology and ways to make the dairy farm more environmentally sustainable and profitable.

Knowledge, qualifications & Experience Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Farm Management, Agribusiness, Animal Husbandry, Food Marketing.
• Animal Science, or related discipline.
• Experience, Skills, and Competencies:
• 3 years or more of progressive experience in any type of farm or farm management work, animal-handling work.
• Strong employee management skills, knowledge of dairy production, and animal health.
• Ability to work long hours and be flexible in busy seasons Good communication skills,
• Team building skills, and the ability to build & maintain relationships with advisors, consultants, and suppliers
• Decision-making skills and Strong computer skills
