Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Geoscience with a bias in Geophysics; or Physics and Mathematics; or Engineering plus a Masters Degree in any of the above related fields from a recognized University/Institution.
A Post Graduate training in Management of Petroleum Operations and Development from a recognized University/Institution will be an added advantage.
Working Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of six (6) years relevant working experience in geophysical data acquisition, processing and interpretation, three (3) of which should have been served at Senior Geophysicist/Exploration level in Government or equivalent level of experience from a reputable organization.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Assistant Commissioner Exploration for performing the following duties:-
• Acquiring, processing and interpreting geophysical data and assessing the petroleum potential of sedimentary basins;
• Undertaking the management of geophysical and support data as well as related documentation;
• Maintaining and upgrading of data interpretation and processing software in the department;
• Participating in resource assessment in the country through use of among others, basin analysis and reservoir modelling of the sedimentary basins and oil fields;
• Preparing and compiling promotional materials for licensing of petroleum exploration and production including geo-referencing, Bid documents and model PSA;
• Participating in the reviewing of policies and regulatory framework and recommending amendments;
• Supervising and appraising the staff;
• Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
