Job Summary:
Management Accountant analyses key financial information to provide feedback that will aid managerial planning and commercial decision making that will ensure future growth and profitability of the Company. Part of the Management Accountant’s role is to try to reduce the operational and production costs of a company by identifying and implementing more efficient strategies.
The Company’s Management Accountant establishes financial policies and maintains management information systems, combining the need for a candidate with accounting and business management skills. Other duties as part of the Management Accountant job description should include:
Key Roles and responsibilities
• Budgeting and reporting and ensure spending is in line with budgets.
• Advising on strategic planning and business planning.
• Overseeing benefits and compensation packages.
• Providing financial analysis and forecasting, and preparing financial statements.
• Supporting auditing projects and providing information for audits.
• Analysing the Company’s financial performance and making long-term forecasts.
• Recommending ways of cutting costs.
• Working with all departments and the management team to help make financial decisions.
• Preparing periodic financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, budgets, cash flows, variance analysis and commentaries
• Negotiating on major projects, loans and grants.
• Interpreting and communicating financial data to non-financial managers.
• Monitoring and evaluating financial information systems and suggesting improvements where needed.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:
• Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in Commerce, Business Administration or a related field with a bias in Accounting from a recognized Academic institution.
• Professional Accountant with minimum level 3 CPA or any other Accountancy profession
• At least five years of working experience in Accounting or Budget preparation, two (2) of which should have been served at a supervisory level from a reputable organization.
• Excellent analytical and Management skills.
• Ability to use Accounting Software Systems such as ORACLE, SAP, SUN, MS Excel.
• Effective Communication and presentation skills. Ability to effectively work as part of a team.
• Innovative and with a proven high level of integrity.
• Proven track record of outstanding performance, Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Possess good administrative and negotiation skills; Confident and dynamic personality.
