The Adara Group is seeking a Communications Intern to support the implementation of communications activities, particularly focusing on content creation and social media support. The Communications Intern will also work closely with the Communications Manager to support the research and identification of profile-raising activities, including awards, speaking and media opportunities. They will be a valued and contributing member of Adara’s Partnerships and Communications team.

About the Adara Group
The Adara Group believes each and every person should have access to quality health, education and other essential services, no matter where they live.
The first part of the Adara Group is an international development organisation called Adara Development that has expertise in maternal, newborn and child health, and remote community development. Adara Development has worked in Nepal and Uganda since 1998.
The second part of the Adara Group consists of two businesses, Adara Partners and Adara Advisors, which are ‘for purpose’ rather than for profit. Their sole objective is to fund Adara Development’s administration and emergency project costs. This allows 100% of donations received by Adara Development to go directly to project-related costs.
The Adara Group is a child-safe organisation. All employees are required to undergo a National Police Check, a Working with Children Check, and sign our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policies.

About the role
• Part time role, two days per week (0.4FTE) from March to November
• Paid internship with salary packaging available
• Flexible work environment, with the option of tailoring your days and hours around your university schedule
• Providing communications support across both Adara Development and the Adara Businesses (Adara Partners and Adara Advisors)
• Working as a valued member of a small and dedicated Partnerships and Communications team

The role includes, but is not limited to:
• Drafting social media content for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram
• Researching social media campaigns, trends and tools to ensure Adara’s content remains engaging and relevant
• Providing social media reports and identifying trends to inform future content
• Developing blogs, press releases, messaging documents and other organisational collateral as required
• Supporting the maintenance of Adara’s website, ensuring it remains a relevant resource
• Providing input into Adara’s Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) strategy
• Assisting all Adara teams with graphic design support (proposals, reports, presentations, infographics etc) as requested
• Supporting the research and implementation of profile-raising activities including maintaining a media list and researching award and speaking opportunities


About you
To excel in this position, you will need:
• Undertaking or completed study towards a relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. communications or marketing)
• Experience developing social media content
• Exceptional skills in writing and content creation for various types of media
• Strong graphic design skills (Canva preferred)
• Professional and friendly manner
• Excellent attention to detail
• Good interpersonal skills
• Have an ability to produce outstanding work to a deadline
• A passion for social justice
• Experience using web content management systems (WordPress preferred) and experience applying Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) principles to improve website search performance would be an advantage
• Experience in the non-profit sector would also be beneficial

Location
Adara is completely focused on the wellbeing and safety of our teams around the world at this time of COVID-19. All our team members can work flexibly from home as well as from a physical office space when it is safe to do so. All our team are fully equipped to work productively and safely from their homes. As long as it is COVID-19 safe, the candidate will be expected to work from our physical office space in The Rocks one day a week.
