Job Details:
Windle International Uganda (WIU) is a registered International NGO whose primary mission is to promote peace and development in communities through provision and coordination of education and training for refugees and people affected by conflict. Since 1996 WIU is a leading provider of access to education for refugees in Uganda at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. In partnership with UNHCR, WIU Palorinya field office seeks to recruit suitable persons to fill the following vacant positions that exist in a number of primary schools in Palorinya refugee settlement, Obongi district.

Job Title : Teaching Assistants
Number of Positions : 03 Positions
Reports to : Primary School Head Teacher
Duty Station : Palorinya Refugee Settlement

Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Conduct lessons according to the curriculum
• Provide support in thematic learning
• Set, administer and mark internal examinations
• Carryout continuous assessment and evaluation of learners
• Create and maintain class records/school records
• Develop and use instructional materials
• Provide counselling and guidance to learners
• Conduct co-curricular activities at school
• Ensure the safety of learners during class and co-curricular activities
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the school administration.

Qualifications and Relevant Experience
• Minimum of Ordinary Level certificate of education
• Applicants must have obtained at least credit in English and Mathematics
• Applicants must be registered refugees residing in Palorinya refugee settlement.
• Knowledge of local languages of refugee children such as Kuku, Kakwa, Bari, Arabic and Acholi is a must.
• Professional teaching experience is an added advantage.
• Letter of recommendation detailing good conduct (no criminal activity including protection violations) from former employer or LC authority or RWC
