Job Details:
The National Coordinator Uganda is a member of the project team implementing the project “Great Lakes Youth Network for Dialogue and Peace. Our Diversity – our Opportunity!” funded by KAS and the EU and implemented by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and partners: Actions for Democracy and Local Governance (ADLG), Cornerstone Development Africa, Leo Africa Institute, Pole Institute, Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle (VJN).
He/she is responsible for project activities in Uganda under the supervision of the Project Manager. The main tasks include the planning, preparation and implementation of national and regional activities implemented in Uganda and the support of regional activities in other project countries.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Coordinate and organise the project activities in Uganda (in cooperation with the project team in Goma and the second National Coordinator for Uganda) to ensure appropriate and timely activity implementation;
• Be the contact person for the project in Uganda and ensure effective communication, linkage and cooperation with the stakeholders in collaboration with the Project Manager
• Support activity implementation outside of Uganda, including the selection of Ugandan participants;
• Draft Terms of Reference and contracts for short-term experts. Engage, brief and monitor short-term experts;
• Ensuring day-to-day communication with targeted Youth initiatives and Actions in Rwanda and Burundi, if applicable;
• Prepare project implementation and performance reports, periodic reports, activity reports for all actions implemented in Uganda under the project and accountabilities for resources committed thereto
• Supporting the Project Manager and the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in monitoring of project activities and results and preparing interim and final reports and evaluations;
• Align activities to the relevant budget and monitor accordingly.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned to him/her from time to time by the Project Manager
Skills/Experience
• Masters Degree in Political Science, Development or Conflict Studies, Project Management, Sociology, Economics, Law, Social Science or a related field;
• Experience in working with youth groups and initiatives, excellent network with the target group;
• Strong background on youth, peace building and conflict resolution;
• Professional experience in implementing donor-funded projects is an advantage;
• Excellent written and oral English language skills;
• Language skills in French or any local language are an advantage;
• Ability to facilitate and serve as project liaison for externally-managed evaluations;
• Well-developed teamwork skills;
• Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented;
• Problem solving skills;
• Ability to work in a stressful environment;
• Readiness to undertake business trips in the project region for participation in project events;
• Strong computer literacy.
