Job Details:
Position & Grade: Production Manager
Reports to: Senior Manager Manufacturing
Summary Role:
The production Manager is responsible to oversee and champion conversion of raw materials and packaging materials into finished goods to avail stocks as per sales projection.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
● Establish the low stock items and Update the finished goods daily stock level document using the daily sales projection and daily finished status report;
● Production Planning and scheduling by setting up production targets, Develop a daily production schedule, Requisition of materials which include packaging materials and Semi-finished goods and Follow up on production schedule execution;
● Develop and monitor production standard operating procedures (SOP) and other internal business processes by reviewing the production manual, Reviewing the SOP/ methods, implement internal audits requirements e.g. OHS, Uganda Bureau of Standards, NEMA, Cfmp (Current Food Manufacturing Processes);
● Provide leadership to the production Human Resource (staff) through determining manpower staffing levels and needs, avail staff requirements e.g. PPEs, handle staff grievances, coordinate manpower upskilling to ensure all employees in the production department have the required competencies, sensitize the staff on key processes and Handle staff performance management e.g. appraisals, TNAs;
● Prepare, implement and monitor annual departmental budget, Develop annual facility plan, Capex project Implementation, Ensure execution of preventive maintenance schedule for machines and equipment in production, Ensure timely correction of machine failures and Follow up on critical spares, minor capital items availability;
● Oversee the maintenance function to ensure all machinery are properly maintained and regularly serviced to ensure a long lifespan; and
● Collaborate and co-ordinate between the departments: sales, stores and supply chain for seamless flow of all operations and activities.
● Implement the Movit Eagle way by executing your duties in line with Quality, Speed, Cost, Safety and People in order to establish the basis for Effective Problem Solving, Continuous Improvement and Innovation; and
● Perform any other duties and responsibilities as maybe assigned from time to time by the Supervisor.
Working Relationship and work Environment:
● Working with the entire staff and departments in Movit Products Limited;
● Maintain good relations with key associates and company external stakeholders;
● Office based and ability to manage urgent demands;
● Ability to meet deadlines and exhibit a high degree of flexibility and versatility;
● Ability to work in a team.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
● The ideal candidate for the Production Manager position should hold a minimum degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical & Process Engineering.
● A minimum of six (6) years of relevant professional experience of which 2 should be at manager level in FMCG environment or busy manufacturing setup.A cosmetics environment is an added advantage.
● A postgraduate or masters in a management course is required.
● Working knowledge of ERP Systems is an added advantage;
● Ability to independently plan and execute complex tasks while addressing daily management details and remaining organized and focused;
● Ability to assess problems and develop solutions;
● Ability to work under pressure with minimum or no supervision and meet deadlines in a fast-paced changing environment;
● Excellent interpersonal, communication, supervision, reporting and organization skills with a high demonstrable level of integrity and confidentiality.
