Job Description: FHI 360 is seeking applications for MNCH and Nutrition Quality improvement Officer positions for a USAID-funded project that aims to strengthen the Government of Uganda's IGOUI performance in implementing strategies to improve maternal. newborn and child health and nutrition outcomes. including the implementation of Kampala-based work to develop effective models to improve services for urban populations. focusing on under-served/ resource communities.
The MNCH and Nutrition QI Officers will support use of QI methods to accelerate the adoption and implementation of MNCH and Nutrition Quality of Care [QQCI standards and overall improvement of quality maternal, and newborn services at selected healthcare facilities in Kampala.
The MNCH and Nutrition QI Officers will effectively support activities to institutionalize the use of quality of care standards and QI methods through proving ongoing coaching/mentoring and technical support to facility teams on application of QI methods. MNCH and Nutrition QoC standards. and essential maternal, newborn and child health knowledge and skills.


Duties and Responsibilities
• Providing onsite support to healthcare facility teams in the application of MoH MNCH Quality of Care standards to address performance gaps, including.
• Use of QoC standards tools to conduct assessments and.
• Use of improvement methods in identifying root causes of performance gaps. designing. implementing and
• Provide ongoing coaching to QI teams at different stages of implementation of QI projects. including assessing and addressing Service provider gaps in knowledge and skills through coaching
• Assist facility teams in monitoring of results to determine whether improvements have taken place. including documenting improvement actions and processes in appropriate tools
• Assist and mentor facility teams to present and analyze their own data in simple ways. including using frequency time graphs or any other methods
• Help facility teams design improvement activities, maintain contact with site improvement teams. including following up on objectives set on o weekly or monthly basis
• Support onsite basic emergency obstetric, newborn core and nutrition clinical skills mentorships as needed
• Support improvements in the quality of MNCH and nutrition Data, accurate and timely reporting and use of data by facility teams to facilitate improvement in service delivery processes and client outcomes
• Document and provide weekly reports on progress made by the Health facility QI learns including challenges faced and how these were solved. and any issues that may need additional support from MNCH Activity or other actors.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor


Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
• A Bachelor‘s degree or Diploma in Midwifery [for MCH] or Nutritionist [for nutrition}
• At-least 3 years of experience in delivery of Basic Emergency Obstetric and new-born care services at facility level or technical service delivery in IYCF. CMAM. BFHI approaches for nutrition
• At least three years of experience in implementing Quality Improvement approaches and use of related tools to support facility-based Quality improvement teams in maternal, newborn care and nutrition services.
• Knowledge and experience in application of national Quality improvement approaches and WHO MNCH Quality of care.
• Experience in QI coaching and mentorship for facility teams in MCH and nutrition services
• Ability to understand MCH and nutrition data elements in HMIS tools and fink to DHlS2
• Training and experience as an obstetric. newborn care services Trainer of Trainers will be of added advantage
• Possession of a valid registration certificate from the relevant professional regulatory bodies.
• Excellent facilitation. communication or interpersonal skills is a must.
